I am a Professional writing major at kutztown University.

Mixtape for Project

I came up with the idea of listing a bunch of  songs that I feel relate to what my paper says. I’m also going to pick out versus from each song that I feel represent education, budget cuts and college students in general.

This is what I have so far:

Revolution, La Vi Boheme, Another Brick in the Wall, Stay True to Your School, All Falls Down, Fight for Your Right, School’s Out, and Schools are Prison.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

The Power of Saving

I wanted to dedicate this entire weekend to this paper. I was working on it for four hours straight and then was away from my computer for too long and was logged out. I lost everything. I had to start completely over. It felt like a tragedy had occurred.

I’ve gotten about 1/3 of my paper done now. I divided it into the three sections: Applicants, Acceptance, Attendance. I’m finished the Applicants section and I have some of the Attendance section done but I’m not completely sure what I’m going to include on the Acceptance section. I do have one idea for how race and ethnicity may play a role in acceptance to schools. But that’s all I have right now.

I’ve also been adding some visuals to my paper. It makes it look better and easier to get the information.

Please remember to save your work as you go. Although I’ve been told by many of my professors, I never really got the message until this weekend.

Idea for proposal

I’m going to be honest: I have absolutely no idea was “art of noise” is supposed to mean. I had a couple peopple ATTEMPT to explain it to me but it’s just not getting through. What kind of noise is this referring to? Maybe I’m thinking too literal about this topic. As I was talking to Shannon (a fellow classmate) I was venting about how confused I am about this new topic. In the middle of my venting, I came up with a sarcastic idea that I may actually use; A mixtape for acceptance/attendence. What does this mean you may wonder. I really don’t know at this point. But a mixtape makes noise: To some groups (older people who don’t accept change easily will see it as noise, while the younger crowd that the music may relate to them more will understand what the message is). I would call it a “mixtape” because, unlike and album, it’s not as developed as it could be. The “mixtape of acceptance/attendence” will be explainging the difference in acceptance/attendence amongst all students in the past, present, and what it will be like whether the budget-cut goes through or not. I feel this will be a very interesting Art of noise.

Issues finding information

I’ve been having a tough time finding information that I need. I’m focusing on how schools put out their information to students and keep them involved. I can’t seem to figure out what I should type into the search engines. I’ve tried:

Students involvement with their college

Students knowledge of their college

Students engagement in college

Student administration, communication transparency.

If anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Useful resource

I found an article on professors trying to connect  more with students by residing in the residence halls with students [with their own rooms of course]. I’m putting this up for one of my group members but anybody is free to use it as a source of their own. You can link it in with student-teacher relationships and how teachers need to budget their lives because of the school cutting back [the professors would live rent-free in the residence halls].
